Stage 2 - Roll cage fitment & first public outing
Having struggled in the past to fit inferior quality roll cages to 105 series Alfas and the ensuing change in FIA regulations for seat belt mountings, it was a great opportunity when Safety Devices approached us to develop and update their cage.
The shell was delivered to Safety Devices to be used as the prototype for the new Safety Devices/Alfaholics roll cage. The rear most two mounts that usually attach to the rear wheel arches were relocated to the front of the rear chassis leg to increase rigidity and improve safety. An extra pair of mounts were also added to optionally locate through the upper seat belt mounts if desired. When used these radically improve the tortional rigidity of the shell as they are mounts that are high up above floor level. An X-Frame was used at the back with a horizontal bar, allowing shoulder seat belt mounting horizontally back from the driver, as per the new FIA regulations.

Once the shell returned to the Alfaholics base in Devon it was immediately called into duty for National Alfa Day 2004. It impressed all visitors with its immaculate preparation, one person even thought we were now offering prepped rolling shells, not quite but it would be nice… food for thought though!
