			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As owners of 916 GTVs and Spiders know only too well, the standard seats offer very little lateral support and give the feeling of sitting on top of the seat rather than in it. This makes spirited driving more about hanging onto the steering wheel for support, rather than focusing on the driving itself. This has proved to be a particular issue where cars have been fitted with the Alfaholics GTV Handling Kit, as lateral G forces and turn-in speeds are much higher.</p>
<p>In order to address this, we have developed a superb solution using sports Recaro seats, bespoke trimmed in the original Alfa style using top quality soft leather. These seats have excellent side support, along with a softer base cushion for improved comfort. The seats are also reclinable and can easily be tipped forward for access to the rear seats. They also feature an aperture below the headrest, offering the option to use full harness shoulder belts if required.</p>
<p>We developed and fitted these seats in the Alfaholics 3.0 GTV and they have transformed the driving experience! From the driver’s perspective, it now feels effortless to thread the car through a series of corners and roundabouts, with no need to brace yourself for every steering input. They are also more comfortable on long journeys by being better shaped. The standard seats are also renowned for positioning the driver and passenger too high in the car, resulting in very poor headroom. The new seats position the driver and passenger lower in the car, which has the added benefit of improving knee clearance to the steering wheel and centre console.</p>
<p>The seats are trimmed to order, to match the leather colour, grain and style of the original seats in your car. They are supplied with bespoke mounting brackets and a set of spacers (all finished in black powdercoating) in order to adjust the height of the seat according to personal preference. The brackets also retain the OE seat belt buckle and pre-tensioners so all the SRS features remain fully functional. This is particularly important given that new MOT regulations in the UK require the airbag warning light to extinguish once the car is started.</p>

<p>I just thought i would let you know that our Alfaholics spec&#8217;d 1750 won the Indonesian Retro Championship for the third year in a row!</p>
<p>For the final event of 2011 we managed to qualify on the pole in a 49 car field (race was restricted to 45 starters) but a gear shifting problem forced us to fall back and finish in 3rd place, which was still good enough to <strong>win the 2011 Championship by 2 points!</strong></p>
<p>The competition has been getting tougher with the entry of more mid-80s European cars to balance the previous Japanese domination (ie: a 16v Mercedes 190E placed 2nd in the 2011 Championship and an E30 BMW 318 finished in 3rd place), so we have had to spec up a bit.</p>
<p>(The Retro Series allows all 2-Liter vintage cars including 16-valve engines, up to a 1986 chassis model. Other marques making up the large grids include Datsun 510 and B310, Toyota Corolla DX, BMW 2002 and 318 E30, Fiat 124, Alfa GTV and Giulia, Mercedes 190E, Renault 5TL, Morris Mini, etc.)</p>
<p>We are still using the Alfaholics 218hp TS engine for the third straight year without a rebuild!  The original racecar build also consisted of many Alfaholics parts including:-</p>

<p>To keep that competitive edge, this year we have added the Alfaholics aluminium adjustable shocks, Alfaholics full length race propshaft, and the Alfaholics aluminium front hubs. </p>
<p>With all of the Alfaholics suspension modifications, this particular Alfa has acquired the reputation of being the best handling Retro car in Indonesia.  And combined with an engine that produces 251 Nm of torque over 2000 rpm rev range, it has produced an overall package that is competitive with the mid-80s 16-valve cars.</p>

<p>Alfaholics 11th annual track day for classic Alfa Romeos will once again be held at Castle Combe on Saturday 14th April 2012. Owners of 105 series Alfas who would like the opportunity to drive their cars at speed in a non-competitive environment are very welcome. Castle Combe, conveniently situated between J17 and J18 of the M4, is 1.85 miles long and combines chicanes and fast corners that make for extremely exciting and challenging driving.  Once again, instructors will be on hand to offer advice and demonstrate cornering technique, while all corners will be &#8216;coned&#8217; to show braking, turn-in and apex points. </p>
<p>With no fixed session times and 12 cars on the circuit at once, there will be virtually unlimited track time all day!  This makes for a relaxed and sociable atmosphere which is always a great feature of our Castle Combe day.  Additional drivers in any cars entered are welcome.</p>
<p>Over the last few years, we have enjoyed a fantastic international flavour to our track day with customers making the journey from as far away as Portugal, Canada, America, New Zealand and Antigua!  We would once again like to welcome all our international customers who would like to attend.  For those who wish to stay over the weekend, we shall be organising accommodation nearby in Bristol.  Please contact us for preferential rates.  We will once again be organising a dinner at an Italian restaurant nearby for those people staying on Friday night.</p>
<p>Those wishing to attend the day as spectators will be warmly welcomed and can take part in a 4 lap circuit parade over the lunch hour. The Tavern Restaurant in the paddock will be open all day serving food and drinks for the benefit of all. Signing on will be held in the Media Centre followed by a circuit briefing by the Clerk of the Course, Andrew Banks, before familiarisation laps with instructors at 9am when the circuit opens.</p>
<p>Castle Combe is particularly strict on noise emission, with an absolute limit of 99dB(A) at 4500rpm, measured on a static test of 0.5 metres from the end of the exhaust pipe at 45º.  This means that cars should use a standard exhaust or a sensible sports system.  The Alfaholics sports exhaust is fine.  Add-on silencers are available from Merlin Motorsport in the Paddock on the day.</p>
<p>To round off a perfect day, everyone is welcome to join us afterwards for an early evening dinner and drinks at an excellent country pub just a mile from the circuit.  This has become a popular tradition over the past few years so please let us know if you would like to attend.</p>
<p>The cost for a car plus driver is £195 plus VAT with additional drivers at £60 plus VAT.  One to one instruction is £20 plus VAT per session.  We highly recommend you pay the small charge for this, as the pleasure obtained from the day is greatly enhanced.</p>

<p>Following the great success of our pre-track day gathering last year, we will once again be organising an open day at Alfaholics on Friday 13<sup>th</sup> April, the day before the track day.  Owners of 105 series Alfas are very welcome to attend and enjoy a sociable day. It will be a great opportunity to view the huge range of standard and performance parts we offer and also to see the various car build and race preparation projects we are undertaking in our workshops.  In addition, all the Alfaholics road, track day and race cars will be available to view. </p>
<p>We will also have one of our ramps available throughout the day for anyone wishing to have a free pre-track day check-up!  The full Alfaholics team will be on hand to offer advice and assistance. We will be providing lunch for everyone and drinks (including espressos!) will be available all day.  For those wishing to stay in Bristol on Friday night, we have organised hotel accommodation with secure underground parking – please contact us for preferential rates.  Feel free to join us for dinner too at the Italian restaurant nearby!</p>
