Alfa Romeo Twin Spark 'GTA Replica'
I was born in South Africa in 1968 and was given the name 1300 junior. After a very happy childhood I was orphaned and sent to live with a younger family who wanted me to move a little bit faster. I went into hospital and was given a new heart in the shape of a 1750. By 2005 I was getting a little tired and my parents decided they had had enough so they sent me off to a guy a long, long away in England. After a long journey I ended up in a workshop next to a few old friends of mine. In 2006 my new owner began to pull me to pieces, at this point I thought this was the end for me. But I went back into hospital where I had major cosmetic surgery. This included a full back to metal strip down, luckily I was in very good shape probably due to spending all my life in the sunshine so no rusty patches had to be replaced. I was then covered in a very smelly etch primer, a fresh coat of underseal and primer and finally finished with a 2 pac clear over base top coat of 501 red. My rear end was stripped down and replaced with a very tight limited slip diff (NICE!) supported by Koni sports suspension kit and a complete set of poly bushes and light weight trailing arms (supplied by Alfaholics). My gearbox was rebuilt with a longer 5th gear to help me cope with the new 185 bhp 2000 Twin Spark engine fitted with full 3-D electronic ignition and twin 45 Webers and a lightweight flywheel, which sounds fantastic through my big bore stainless steel exhaust system. My front end was rebuilt with Koni sports suspension, light weight hubs and 4 pot calipers which as you can imagine I do need. I was then sent in for a final makeover which included my dashboard being fully refurbished, new door cards, Mark 1 1750 GT seats and a new set of high quality carpets and head lining. A further few weeks were spent on my finishing touches and I was given a nice set of new 15" GTA replica wheels. All in all this surgery, using only Alfaholics products, has cost a fortune but I feel amazing and look fantastic!!
