1950 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 Sport Berlina

Beautiful and rare coachwork by Pininfarina, this example is the 12th of only 17 examples produced. The 6C 2500 chassis was the last pre-war Alfa design that was built after the war in order to revive car production at Alfa Romeo. The advanced chassis design is born out of Alfa’s all conquering pre-war competition era.

It features independent torsion bar rear suspension with independent hydraulic cylinder front suspension, and many beautiful lightweight aluminium castings. The Pininfarina coachwork is pure art, with a wonderful array of machine turned components and special aluminium finishers. This car represents the very last of the true coach-built Alfa Romeos produced at great expense (over 3,500,000 lira in 1950!) before the first post-war unitary body production line 1900 was introduced the following year, in order to meet the changing demands of the public.

This particular, matching numbers, example has lived its later life in the dry climate of southern Italy and is presented in its original, never restored condition, having been merely preserved and maintained over its sixty five year life. This car provides a unique opportunity to own one of the great survivors of Alfa’s coach built era in which the company was world renowned for superb engineering and build quality!
